В наиболее упрощенном виде разделение капитала можно представить как выпуск доходных акций наряду с обыкновенными акциями. Дивиденды по обыкновенным акциям не выплачиваются на протяжении всего времени существования траста, однако инвесторы получают все преимущества, вытекающие из роста их стоимости в случае роста рынка. Держатели доходных акций получают весь доход, заработанный всем фондом, но не имеют никакой выгоды от роста курсовой стоимости таких акций. Оба вида представляют интерес для инвесторов, поскольку дают возможность частным инвесторам выбрать тот тип инвестирования, который кажется им наиболее выгодным.
